What It's Like: A Personal Story of Suffering - Sitting on a Cement Bench

SITTING on a CEMENT BENCH
By Janice Veldman

The air was warming from a chilly winter
She sat on the cement bench
Covered with snow only a week ago

She could feel the coldness
still lingering in the cement
Staring
 Lifeless
Lost in her scrambled thoughts

Gazing at an icicle
still hanging from a pine branch
Slowly losing its form one drip at a time

Drip, drip, drip
Having the appearance of glass
Glistening
 Reflecting
 Shining

Yesterday she created a work of art
Today she no longer remembers it
Drip, drip, drip
