Memories
By Janice Veldman
Share a memory, Grandma
Her family loved to reminisce
Grandma’s were the best
Those that loved her sat around her
Eagerly waiting to hear what was to be said.
She took her worn tissue paper, fragile in itself
A lingering scent of age
Carefully unfolding the paper
The memory was nearly unwrapped.
Silence
Just pick anyone, someone said
Silence
What is wrong?
The wrapping is empty
No more memories to share
They were gone
Empty
Gone
She had shared them all.
