What It's Like: A Personal Story of Suffering - Lost

Lost
By Janice Veldman

My name is not given
911 not called
No search and rescue
Family does not search

No postings on telephone poles
No face on milk cartons
The world around you does not respond

Your lost has a name
Dementia

Alone, confused, scared, thoughts tangled, emotions twisted
Medical practice does not know how to find you
That keeps everyone satisfied that they did what they could
Your name is added to the many
So many they remain nameless

A cold case
Put neatly away
Until one day a cure

They do not search for me
For now I am lost with a name
Dementia
