How Difficult Is It to Overcome Prejudice?
During World War Two, President Roosevelt authorized an “experiment” at Tuskegee to train African-Americans to fly. The plan was to authorize military assignments for these newly graduated and qualified pilots after their training was completed.
Immediately after the Tuskegee Airmen passed all requirements to fly, however, they were not given any flying assignments for an extended period of time.
If you were part of such a qualified group, what would a lack of assignment mean to you?
Would it make you think that the “experiment” was not intended to result in a positive outcome (even though it was presented to you in that way)? Explain your answer.
